Privacy Policy

What this site does not do

The site takes no bookings, payments or accounts, and it has no login. That leaves very little for a privacy notice to describe.

If you only read the pages

Nothing that identifies you is collected. Analytics and advertising scripts do not load before you answer the cookie bar, and they never load if you decline.

Two entries in your browser

• 10_charlottetown_age_ok: written once you answer the age question, so that it is asked only once per device.
• 10_charlottetown_consent: written when you answer the cookie bar, so that your answer is remembered.

Both are kept in local storage. They stay on your device and carry no identifier, and clearing your browsing data removes them. If your browser blocks storage the site still works, and the question is asked on each visit.

Server logs

The host records the request, the time, the page and the browser string, as hosts ordinarily do. These logs are kept for thirty days and then overwritten.

If you write to us

The form collects a name, an email address, a telephone number if you give one, dates if you have them, and your message. It arrives at the front desk as an email and is kept with the booking correspondence for two years, then deleted.

Analytics and advertising

None is in use today. If a tag is added, it will be Google Analytics 4 and a Google Ads tag, loading only for readers who accepted. Consent Mode v2 sets all four signals to denied in the head of every page, before any other script runs.

The law that applies

Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act governs this, together with the privacy legislation of Prince Edward Island where it applies. We rely on your consent for analytics and advertising, and we collect what you send through the form because you have sent it to ask us something.

Who else sees it

The hosting company and the email provider see it, as does Google for the tags above once you have consented. Nothing is sold, and no guest list is passed to anyone for marketing.

Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, ask for a correction, and withdraw a consent you gave. Write to the address above or to [email protected]. We answer within thirty days and make no charge. If our answer does not satisfy you, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada takes complaints.

Children

This site is not intended for children, and the carriage barn is for people of 19 and over. We keep nothing that we know was collected from a child, and if you think a child has used the form, tell the desk and it will be deleted.

Changes

The date on this page is updated whenever the text changes.
